Friends of DeKalb County-AL Animal Adoption Center
Are you missing your pet?
If you are missing a pet it may have been found and put ON STRAY HOLD at the DeKalb County Animal Adoption Center (DCAAC) in Ft. Payne, AL. Please contact DCAAC @ 256.304.0474 ASAP. All strays must be held for a minimum of 7 days to give the owner a chance to claim them. The shelter does not release information on strays to ensure they are returned to their true owner. If you have a missing pet, please go to the shelter ASAP with proof of ownership. If you are missing a pet that is not posted on our Facebook page please still check with the shelter, not all strays are posted on the page.
Please note that strays are not in the care of our volunteer organization so please contact the shelter staff as they are the only ones who can assist you with a stray pet in their care.
If you are interested in adopting a pet that is on stray hold, please go to the shelter and submit an application, but know that they cannot be released until the stray hold is lifted.
